Come be amazed by Erik Stephany Magical Entertainment!

I for one and a true lover of magic and entertainment and someone that can combine them together I think is amazing!! Erik Stephany the Magical Entertainer offers a variety of Birthday/Children Shows, Walk around Magic and Busking. At Earth Day Chilliwack  Erik will be performing and booking shows for the season!! Make sure to find him on the grounds during the day, my family is so excited to laugh and be amazed!!

Birthday/Children Shows

Don’t be fooled by the title. The two different shows offered by Erik Stephany are for people of any age who just want to laugh and be silly! Each show is a half-hour in length, with a free magic wand kit for the birthday boy or girl.

Chicken Kung Fu
Erik, the silly sensei, will teach you the wonders of the world’s least-known martial art: chicken kung fu! Includes a special appearance of Che Kan Wing, Erik’s feathered sidekick.

Dr. Smarticals

The mad scientist, Dr. Smarticals, has created the greatest invention of all time! Now if he could only figure out what to do with it…Balloon Animals - From monkeys to pirate swords, Erik has learned to make them all! Balloon animals are enjoyed by everyone, from toddlers to geriatrics. Seriously, who can resist a balloon ladybug?

Make-Your-Own Magic Wand Kit - This kit is perfect for the magic lover! Inside are the paints and materials needed to make a magic wand, plus a cool magic trick. While the birthday child does receive one for free, others are for sale. These will be for sale at Earth Day Chilliwack!

Walk-Around Magic

Magic doesn’t just belong on a stage. Erik Stephany is a master of close-up magic, which involves small props (like cards and coins) but huge impact! Portable and incredible, this is perfect for family events, wedding receptions, corporate functions, banquets, grand openings, community / charity events, and more!

This is so much fun!!! Abra Cadabra! Yay Erik we can’t wait!

I can’t wait to meet the Fraser Valley Conservancy team and play one of their fun games at Earth Day Chilliwack 2012!!

The Fraser Valley Conservancy (FVC) is a nongovernmental organization and charitable society enabled to protect land and water for future generations. They are involved in various land protection, stewardship, and educational projects throughout the valley.

One of their largest annual projects is the Ryder Lake Amphibian Protection Project (RLAPP.) This project identifies the migration patterns of the Western Toad and other species of amphibians. They have found that there are three migrations every year, two during the breeding season, in which the adult toads migrate to and then from the wetland, and the third is a mass migration in which the juveniles move from the wetlands to the forested upland.

For the past few years, the FVC has utilized selective road closures to allow safe and natural crossings for the young toadlets. They are currently looking into effective, long-term solutions such as the installation of a “wildlife guard” (modelled after a cattle guard) so that these toads can migrate without human interference. Year round, the FVC raises money for this project through the “Toonies for Toads” campaign. The toonies collected through this campaign are used to pay for migration monitoring, traffic control, and for the future tunnel structure and fencing.

They look forward to seeing you (and your toonies) out on April 21st for Chilliwack Earth Day. Drop by their booth for crafts, games, more information on toad migrations, or just to say hello! In the meantime, feel free to check out their website at www.fraservalleyconservancy.ca, or look for us on Facebook and Twitter.

EARTH HOUR: SAVE ENERGY AND PROMOTE AWARENESS

Earth Hour logo

Happy Saint Patty’s Day don’t forget to do something GREEN!!!!
Every year, millions of people and businesses around the world join together to support the WWF’s Earth Hour, the largest environmental event in the world. I know our little city is going to be celebrating Earth Day at Earth Day Chilliwack but this is a great thing to also take part in. I know we will as we do every year going in the Earth Hour. Do it with friends, play games, eat dinner all over candle light… doesn’t that sound like so much fun/romantic!!!

What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, when 2 million people turned out their lights as a symbolic commitment for action against climate change. Last year in Canada alone, 15 million people and businesses turned off their lights across 427 cities and municipalities. And this year they’re hoping it will be even bigger and better.
Organisers say that the event is not about telling you how to conduct your business; rather about providing you with the opportunity to reflect on how your business is contributing to stopping climate change. Think of it as an Environmental New Year. Not just businesses, everyone can participated!

When is Earth Hour?

This year Earth Hour will be on Saturday, March 31st, 2012 between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm.

How You Can Take Part

You can register your business on the WWF Earth Hour website by simply completing your name and email address. By registering your business you are pledging to turn off all internal lights and all exterior lights to your business premises, including any signs.

Why Participate

Other than making a global community connect. By spreading the word to those you know, you’ll spread awareness of your company’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.  This will encourage existing clients and attract new clients to use a socially aware company. Posters and other marketing materials are available through the Earth Hour website which can be displayed in your premises or on your website to help raise awareness of your pledge.
This informations was found from BC Hydro, if you want to know more.
I love this idea and connecting with the entire world. I love our community and for one hour our community becomes global! I can’t wait to get together with some friends and have a little celebration with local food and games!
Let us know what you are doing for Earth Hour or Earth Day, we would love to know!!
